Classics Series Concert Previews are pre-concert lectures presented by local musicians and educators offering insights and anecdotes on the concert programming not necessarily found in the program notes. She frequently works as a panelist and policy advisor for national foundations and served on the board of Chorus America. 3 MAR 2012 Speaker: Rachel Barton Pine, violinist Previews “Musical Surprises” which features the speaker as soloist Internationally acclaimed for her performances, American violinist Rachel Barton Pine is a tireless ambassador for classical music who is dedicated to community engagement and music education. In addition to performing, Barton is a trustee of the Music Institute of Chicago and president of the Rachel Elizabeth Barton Foundation. 31 MAR 2012 Speaker: Hal Grossman, Assistant Professor of Violin :: School of Music at the University of Oklahoma, and a member of the Holmberg String Quartet Previews “Sumptuous Strings” featuring violinist David Kim and cellist Carter Brey. Grossman is an active soloist and recitalist in addition to his teaching and studio position at the University of Oklahoma.
