Patty Ferguson, Recipient of the One to Six Art Purchase Award
By Tourism Industry Partner
(Lawton, OK) Patty Ferguson’s artwork was selected for the City of Lawton/Lawton Arts & Humanities Council’s “One to Six” Art Purchase Award. The artwork will be presented to the six recipients of the 2010 Lawton Cultural Awards at the Arts for All Kick-Off Luncheon, Friday, Feb 4 at CU’s MAC Center 2nd Floor Ballroom at 12 Noon.
Patty, a clay artist and potter grew up in Anadarko, OK. Her heritage is part Cherokee and Seminole and she was greatly influenced by American Indian culture. Patty incorporates items from nature such as antlers, feathers, beads and stones into her pieces. The predominant glazing color of her works is that of turquoise that she finishes with a weathered, antique look. At her home studio, she forms and initially bisque fires her pieces. She then transports her works to Oklahoma City where she does the final firings in a gas reduction kiln. This final firing gives the weathered look to her pieces.
Her works have been exhibited at the Adelante Gallery in Oklahoma City, Winery of the Wichita’s in Medicine Park, Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Visitor’s Center, Redlands College and shops in Medicine Park, OK.
For questions or commissions, she may be contacted at 580-492-4589 or 678-4864 or via email at email@example.com. If interested in attending the luncheon, call the Lawton-Ft. Sill Chamber of Commerce at 580-355-3541. For more information about the “One to Six” Art Purchase Award visit www.cityof.lawton.ok.us/lahc or call 580-581-3470/3471.
