Pryor, OK— For all those “Yankee Doodle Dandies” out there who enjoy waving the flag and wearing red, white and blue, you have reason to celebrate. The Fourth of July is coming early this year—on July 1 to be exact, when Starlight Band comes to town.

The entire community is invited to FreedomFest on Friday, July 1 at Whitaker Park in Pryor. FreedomFest will feature children’s activities starting at 4:30pm and a free patriotic concert at 7:30pm.

The Treeman Family Foundation is proud to present a special performance by Oklahoma’s only professional concert band. Starlight Band will play a program of favorite American and patriotic music. The concert is produced in part by the City of Pryor and the Pryor Chamber of Commerce.

The evening is a perfect time to grab your friends and family, a picnic dinner, and a blanket or lawn chairs and come enjoy music in a relaxed, outdoor setting. As families prepare to celebrate America’s Independence Day, the Starlight concert will put everyone in a patriotic mood. The program will appeal to people of all ages from the young to the young at heart. “We want to get hands clapping and feet tapping,” said L. Dale Barnett, Starlight’s Conductor and Music Director.

Two members of Starlight Band have Pryor ties—Jeff Lawless teaches percussion at Pryor High. Mr. Lawless is a member of Starlight Band and has played with the group for more than 20 years. His daughter, Jenny, also plays with the Starlight Band, making her a fourth-generation Starlight musician.

Whitaker Park is accessible to those with disabilities. Restrooms and concessions will be available. Parking and admission are free to this event, and the public is invited to attend.
