The Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra is thrilled to announce that Maestro Jon Kalbfleisch will continue as the Music Director and Conductor for the LPO at least through June of 2014. His leadership in the past five seasons has been remarkable. The critics, audience and musicians, all praise his talent in programming and conducting. Many also particularly enjoy his entertaining and educational remarks from the stage.

This year’s Lawton Philharmonic Society officers, who were installed in July, made the announcement. Those officers are: Ruth Dishman, President; Rick Fritsch, First Vice President; Anne McClure, Second Vice President; Bob Zwaan, Treasurer; Josephine Raburn, Recording Secretary; Karen Woodward, Corresponding Secretary. The Lawton Philharmonic Society Board meets every third Thursday at noon at the Lawton Country Club. The meetings are open to the public and anyone interested is welcome to attend.

When contacted, Maestro Kalbfleisch had the following comment: “After 5 years as conductor of the Lawton Philharmonic, I'm very pleased to be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the orchestra this coming season with some of the world's greatest orchestral music, wonderful soloists and a world premiere.  I'm even more pleased to look forward to two more years after that, in order to continue our varied programming that appeals to a range of tastes, generates new interest in the orchestra, and directly involves members of the community whenever possible. Lawton is unique to have its own beautiful concert hall in McMahon Auditorium, and its own professional symphony orchestra to fill it with glorious music, so I'm delighted to come home and be part of this important tradition.”
