Tulsa Hotel & Lodging Association has elected Michael Frimel, Hotel Ambassador, as president for a second year.


Other 2011 officers include Jeff Keeley, Hyatt Regency, vice president; James Cunningham, Doubletree Warren Place, vice president; and Jim Barnard, Post Oak Lodge, treasurer.


The new board member representing properties with more than 200 rooms is Shannon Penner, Holiday Inn City Center. Representing properties with fewer than 200 rooms are Mukesh Bhakta, Best Western Inn & Suites; and Steve Nabilsi, Honewood Suites Tulsa South.


At-large board members are Pete Patel, Promise Hotels; Tonnie Wainscott, Hyatt Place Tulsa; and Stephan Meier, Doubletree Tulsa Downtown. Representing allied members are Julia Sullivan, Guest Supply; and Michael Garner, AmSan Eve Supply. Honorary members are Randy Dietzel, Preview Magazine; Ray Hoyt, Tulsa Sports Commission; and Janet Rockefeller, Tulsa Convention Center.


According to Trisha Kerkstra, director, THLA is a non-profit association representing over 7,000 hotel rooms in the Tulsa metro area along with more than 35 hotel vendors. The organization works closely with VisitTulsa promoting Tulsa as a tourist destination. The Tulsa metropolitan area’s tourism economic impact is $1.4 billion, according to the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce.


THLA is a member of Green Country Marketing Assn., one of 11 multi-county organizations working with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, the Oklahoma Travel Industry Assn. and the other multi-country associations to promote the state tourism industry, a $6.1 billion industry.
