University Theatre Brings Nine Mainstage Productions to the OU Campus

Aug. 15, 2011 — “Our talented and gifted students bring nine mainstage productions to life for the 2011-2012 gala season,” says Rich Taylor, Dean of the College of Fine Arts. “Patrons can find great value with professional quality and catch all nine shows by purchasing a Season Subscription.”
The University of Oklahoma Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts and University Theatre announce the 2011-2012 season features the addition of two Opera productions along with the established Drama, Musical Theatre and Dance mainstage performances.
The University Theatre Season Subscription now offers two packages, an ‘Uber Package’ to attend all nine mainstage productions, $175 for adults, $75 for OU students and $135 for seniors, OU faculty/staff and military; the ‘Variety Package’ lets those attend one of each production- Drama, Opera, Dance and Musical Theatre, $77 for adults, $40 OU students, $65 for seniors, OU faculty/staff and military. University students can save $127 with the ‘Uber Package’ and $51 with the ‘Variety Package’ plus University Students can now charge to their bursar account.
Be prepared for a bloody good scare. University Theatre opens their season with William McNulty's acclaimed adaption of Bram Stoker's famous novel "Dracula." Performances are 8 p.m. Sept. 23, 29, 30 and Oct. 1, 11 p.m. Sept. 24 and 3 p.m. Sept. 25 and Oct. 2 in the Rupel J. Jones Theatre.
An all student orchestra, chorus and cast bring the opera production of “The Coronation of Poppea” to life. Performances are 8 p.m., Oct. 12, 13, 14 and 15 and 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16 in the Weitzenhoffer Theatre.
Inspired by the life and work of impressionist painter Georges Seurat, “Sunday in the Park with George” by Steven Sondheim comes to the historic Holmberg Hall at 8 p.m. Oct. 21, 26, 27, 28 and 29 and 3 p.m. Oct. 23 and 30.
The children’s holiday classic “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky and choreographed by Mary Margret Holt plays out for all ages at 8 p.m. Dec. 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10 and 3 p.m. Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11.
Spring 2012 mainstage productions include Young Choreographers’ Showcase, Jan. 26 through 29; the Aussie play “Mary Stuart,” Feb. 10 through 18; Mozart’s grand opera “Don Giovanni,” March 1 through 4; Contemporary Dance Oklahoma, March 7 through 11 and the family must see “Seussical the Musical,” April 27 through May 6.
