Muskogee, OK 74403
Come to the Muskogee War Memorial Park: Home of the USS Batfish for the Tolling of the Boats ceremony. The Tolling of the Boats is a long-held tradition to honor those submariners lost during World War II and beyond.
The Muskogee War Memorial Park contains a memorial (one of three in the United States) dedicated to each submarine lost during World War II. During the ceremony submariners from World War II, Korea and the Cold War honor their brothers by tolling a ship's bell and announcing the name of the vessel while placing a flag upon their plaque.
The event is completely free and open to the public. Donations to improve the facility and restore the Batfish are accepted, but not required. Following the event, ticketing will reopen for tours throughout the World War II submarine, the USS Batfish. Submarine veterans will be on hand to guide visitors through the submarine while telling stories and answering any questions.
