Hulah Lake impounds the waters of the Caney River in northeastern Osage County. The lake derives its name from the Osage Indian word "Hulah," meaning "eagle." The rolling hills of Hulah form a picturesque picnic, camping and sightseeing area. My uncle, Harold Walker, worked for the Corp of Engineers at Hulah Lake in the 50's and 60's. As a little girl, my family and I spent many holidays and weekends with my aunt Viola and uncle Harold at the rock house near the dam. I loved that old house and was wondering if it's still standing. I remember the big rock fireplace and cathedral ceilings with beams running across. It had hard wood floors and beautiful stairs with a landing at the bottom. Any way, I'm sure the house is not nearly as big or as impressive as it was when I was 6 or 8, but would love to see pictures of it if any are available.
