We drove two hours to hike the trails there. There was nothing marked to indicate a trail head, no information to be had. I asked a few people and no-one knew where the trails were. We encountered two other vehicles driving around looking for the trail head as well. Finally drove home disgusted. I will never go back.

I was really pleased with how beautiful the campsites are. The water is great, fishing was decent, and all grounds looked well maintained. I did wonder if there were trails people with out a four hooved creature could walk, but never inquired due to the length of our stay. We are planning to return to this lake and do some hearty camping.

I have been to Sportsmans Lake too many times to count. I think it is a very wonderful place! Though it's been a few years, the park ranger then, was also very nice, and did a good job! My favorite was lot #31- close to the restrooms, and yet still close to the lake...great spot for me!

The building previously referred to is a reservable event building rented for company parties, family events, weddings - but not for sleeping. It is 30 ft. x 40 ft. Has restroom, A/C, heat, kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator.

Lake Ranger Pete is frequently paid compliments for his hospitality, so I was surprised to read Rebecca's negative comment. When I brought it to attention of City staff, they advised the person she was referring to is no longer at Sportsman Lake.

From Rebecca Morris on 10/11/13

There aren't any cabins there are pavilions and a coon hunting building that's it and the girl that works at the ranger house is not very nice so don't talk to her talk to the lake ranger Pete

I thought I read that there is a cabin that could be rented, if so how many people does it sleep?
