Upper Mountain Fork River

Upper Mountain Fork River 10 miles north of Broken Bow
Smithville, OK 74957

Phone: 580-584-3393

This popular canoe stream empties into Broken Bow Lake and is mostly traveled from Smithville to the Narrows. Occasional ledges create long pools, with a rating of Class I-II+. Being totally dependent on seasonal rainfall, float trips are typically planned in early spring and summer and late autumn. Southeastern Oklahoma is a prime fall foliage destination making it a beautiful time to get out on the river. Two commercial outfitters service the river, and some cabin operators in the area offer the use of a canoe for their overnight guests.
