Ashley, thank you for your compliments, I will pass them along to our lake staff. Hope you enjoy your weekend at the lake!!

From Ashley on 06/17/14

Our favorite weekend camping spot! We were out this weekend. We love the amenities and cleanliness. Sure, by late Friday or Saturday night the restrooms can get a little dirty. Nothing out of the ordinary. First thing in the morning they were cleaned up and restocked on TP. No complaints with the showers either. We will be back out this weekend!

From owner on 06/14/14

A new individual has been hired to clean the bathrooms, he works Friday through Sunday during the high traffic times and has replaced the previous employee. We have been understaffed during this transition and are trying to remedy these problems as fast as possible. As far as the shower temperature it is fully adjustable, simply notify someone with the lake staff or city hall. The water heaters are set to not exceed 120 degrees. I have heard no calls about this issue. Please use the e-mail link on this page or call the numbers listed so that we can address these issues as soon as they arise, this page is not monitored frequently. Thank you for your concern, Parks and Recreation Director.

We're out here right now and the bathrooms are disgusting, the trash is overflowing and there's only scalding hot water in the showers.

From Todd on 06/06/14

The bath house is nasty doesn't look like it's been touched in weeks or more the one shower stall that does kinda work burn me and my family over 120 with no adjustment this is not right should be ashamed of your self from the mayor to the lake personal !

Bill, we apologize for the way you saw our facilities. That is not representative of the level we care about our facilities. We had a staffing issue over the weekend leading to the cleaning problem which has been addressed, however they are generally cleaned with a disinfectant frequently. As far as the privacy we do not have any curtains or doors due to vandals repeatedly destroying them. Please notify the staff of any cleaning issues directly next time so we may resolve the issue faster. Thank you for your concern, Parks and Recreation Director.

We were considering camping at Wes Watkins Reservoir until we saw the toilet and shower facilities today. They were nasty to say the least. They looked like they had not been cleaned in days. One toilet had a bown substance smeared all over it and a pile of paper towels on top of that. Bugs were everywhere and it looked like urine on the floor in the men's restroom. No privacy at all. This is a shame because the campground and day areas are really nice. It's just too bad that noone seems to care about the facilities offered to the campers who are paying to stay there.

Beth West, we appreciate your concern and I am thankful to say we are still operating. Some slight tree damage to clean up and the reservoir is now up approximately 5 1/2 feet and all ramps are open. Thank you.

From Beth West on 06/01/13

We will be arriving the 6th of June. Tried to call you this morning, no answer. Pray ya'll are ok. We are aware of the storms that have passed through. Are you operational? We camp one night each year while we are traveling. Love your recreational area. Thank you, Beth

Treina, unfortunately the Senior Pass is valid only at participating federal recreation sites. For more information on camping at the Wes Watkins Reservoir, call 405-964-4507. Happy camping and thank you for using TravelOK.com!

From treina ford on 08/16/12

Does the campsites at this lake accept the Senior Pass?

From fishoklahoma on 06/17/12

Newalla fisher, not sure why you aren't paying fees at Shawnee. It actually costs more to fish at Shawnee lake than it does to fish at Wes Watkins. It's only five for the boat and two to fish.

From newalla fisher on 06/09/12

i am sick of the fee's.. this lake has been around long enough and collected enough fee's to have paid for itself.... i have not been this year and will not go back until theyt drop the fee's and the catch&release rules....i mean shawnee lake and thunderbird are both within a 10 min drive from here.... and have way better facilities with no fee's.....

From TravelOK.com Staff on 03/26/12

It would be helpful if your website had a map of the RV sites and more info about $$ and reservations. I am interested in reserving for our camping group, approx. 15 rigs, for 2 nights. Many stay longer. An enclosed shelter at reasonable $$ for meetings and activities would be desirable.

From owner on 10/12/11

Melanie, Im sorry that you feel this way. We have a very small crew but we care greatly about the park as well as it's patrons and work with the budget and time that we are given to our best ability. We took over management in July of 2010 with little warning and worked extremely hard to pick up the best processes and methods to best operate the recreation area and facilities that we were given and are still learning. We strive to keep the entire lake property clean and safe and we are always willing to attend to any problem that is brought to our attention. The batrooms are located at a lake along with it's insects and conditions and will probably never see doors or curtains due to the design and use, it is simply not pracical. As far as the cleanliness, they are pressure washed with anti-bacterial soaps. We have seen hundreds of campers over the past summer who have had an enjoyable experience and we really appreciate your patronage, to those we would like you to know that will always try our best to keep a clean and safe place for you to bring your families, we are always working to improve the reservoir and its aging facilities. Camp Manager

From Melanie Jenkins on 10/04/11

While this is a pretty campground with great RV sites, they very obviously cater to the big, fully equipped motor homes. You can tell this by the condition of the bath houses and toilets. We camped there last year, and were horrified. My husband finally hosed down the floors and stalls himself because after three days no one had touched them. Also, there are no doors on the toilet stalls, and no doors OR curtains on the shower stalls. We camp in a pop-up camper with no facilities so we had no choice but to use them. A friend and I went out last week and checked because we'd heard they'd been redone and cleaned up. Nope. Same nasty condition they were in a year ago. We will never ever camp there again, and that's a shame, because it is a pretty place. It just needs someone to care about it, and the campers.
