Located in north-central Oklahoma, Noble County was named for John W. Noble, the U.S. Interior Secretary in 1893. The first railroad in the county was the Southern Kansas Railway, built in 1886. In the 1920s, oil was discovered in Noble County, and oil and gas exploration continued there for a while. The Cherokee Strip Museum & Rose Hill School in Perry presents the history of the area with artifacts and photos.
