Stillwater is the place where smiles from strangers abound and hometown spirit is the way of life. Soak up the vibrancy of the historic downtown, explore Oklahoma State University’s stunning campus and dive into the live music scene.

Stillwater is the quintessential college town where half of the total population of 50,000 residents are Oklahoma State University students. As a Big 12 Conference community, Stillwater sees athletic greats on the field, course, pitch, mat and within the arena throughout the year. The ability to accommodate conference and national NCAA events and championships has afforded the ability to host other major amateur athletic events as well as Pro Ams in various sports.

Stillwater is known as America's Friendliest College Town, and it's only fitting one of the most iconic smiles seen around the world was born in Stillwater. Eskimo Joe's, Stillwater's legendary grill and bar, opened in the late seventies. A smiling Eskimo and his dog, Buffy, are the faces behind the brand that can be seen on their collectible tees - considered the most popular t-shirt in the world, second to the Hard Rock Café.

As a result of a history rich in agriculture, Stillwater hosts state, regional and national livestock shows and sales consistently throughout the year. The Payne County Expo Center is also the home of events including the Payne County Free Fair, Oklahoma State University Cowboy Stampede Rodeo, and arts and crafts shows.

The sound of Red Dirt music is more than a genre rooted and cultivated in Stillwater. It is a catalyst for storytelling and a source of mentorship for musicians and songwriters who have influenced the Stillwater culture and captured the hearts of their loyal audiences of all ages. Whether you are looking for a quaint acoustic set in a coffee shop or a loud and rowdy late-night jam, the live music scene in Stillwater keeps the party going.

For the outdoor enthusiasts, grab a fishing pole, pack a picnic or take a bike ride and fill your lungs with fresh Stillwater air at one of the many outdoor recreation areas. Stillwater's lakes and parks provide over 50 miles of single-track trails, kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, disc golf courses, splash pads, beaches, fishing and camping.

Stillwater Regional Airport (SWO) is also a no-brainer option to fly virtually anywhere in the world on American Airlines. Daily direct flights to and from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport are available as well as free parking, short no-wait lines and faster baggage claim. Grab a Big Country Pizza and fried mushrooms at The Original Hideaway Pizza before or after your flight.

Consisting of over 11 blocks of shopping, dining and nightlife opportunities, historic downtown Stillwater offers the latest foodie hotspots, live music venues, one-of-a-kind shops and year-round holiday celebrations.

Stillwater is a quick drive settled between Oklahoma City and Tulsa and the perfect location for a day-trip or weekend getaway.
