Explore the dig site and excavate unique hourglass crystals when you visit the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge for a full weekend of family fun at this year's Birding & Crystal Festival. Bring your shovels, buckets and sifters and see if you can win a prize in one of several crystal-digging categories. All ages will enjoy guided birdwatching tours and crystal digging contests during this family-friendly festival in one of Oklahoma's most unique state parks.

Go 3 miles south from 5th St in Cherokee on Hwy 64, than go east 5 miles on a paved road to the gate. If coming from Jet, go 6 miles west of Jet on Hwy 64, than go north for 3 miles and than east 1 mile to the gate. Both places have signs. Please only drive your car on the marked areas in the digging zone.
