Join Lake Thunderbird State Park staff on January 1 for the park's annual First Day Hike. Meet at Discovery Cove Thunderbird Nature Center at 1pm before setting out on an easy two-mile hike or half-mile trek along the Fawn's Rest handicap accessible trail. This easy hike, conducive to all ages and stroller-friendly. Be sure to bring your leashed pets (leashes no longer than 10'), camera, binoculars, water and appropriate dress for cold weather. After the journey, hikers can enjoy a healthy snack, bottled water, coffee and hot chocolate at the Nature Center.

Park staff will share information to help you learn a few ways to make your park photographs inspire others, as the view inspired you. On the way you will pick up a couple of tips on macro photography, composition and how to use lighting conditions to improve your photographs. Any camera is acceptable, however digital is preferred. Tripod's are welcome but not required. Example of views you might see in the park will be displayed.
