First Day Hike at Lake Murray State Park
Jan 01, 2018
Mark your calendar for a visit to Lake Murray State Park on January 1 for a free guided hike. Meet at the park office at 111am for a moderate, one and a half to two-mile hike along the trail. The first quarter-mile is paved and accessible and will include a walk along the new fishing pier. The remainder of the trail is along the lake shoreline and into the mixed forested area of the park. Be sure to bring your binoculars, a camera, water and appropriate dress for a cool-weather hike. Afterwards, join up at the lodge for hot chocolate and cookies around the fireplace.
The event is in conjunction with the America's State Parks First Day Hikes initiative that will take place in all 50 states. The First Day Hikes offer individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on the first day of the new year.
