The Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry is a humble, yet empowering little place for poetry. The mission of the Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry is to bring poetry and people together, to encourage wordplay and literacy and to provide a space where everyone can have an experience of poetry. This museum displays rotating exhibits focused on exploring creativity through words.

ROMP's 2021 exhibit is Firewheel Folk: Oklahoma Wildflowers in Poetry, and it explores the beauty of the state's native flowers and poetry that celebrates them. The main exhibit room provides a unique, interactive experience that is fun and informative for all ages -- even those who have no interest in poetry.

The museum also features other exhibits, a craft room, garden area with poetry croquet, a library, and a wonderful gift shop with many locally-made pieces of art and handmade items and poetry gifts, including clothes and journals.

ROMP is located in downtown Locust Grove near the ROMP Rummage Store, a thrift store that funds the museum and its work. ROMP Rummage also has a poetry museum annex inside it.
