Fall Antiques & Arts Fest
The Museum of the Red River's annual Fall Antiques & Arts Festival in Idabel features local artists and craftsmen along with several antique dealers. Come look through beautiful works of art and find a vintage piece of furniture or home decor you'll want to take home. Grab an Indian taco, tamale or some traditional Choctaw tanchi labona to eat. The kids' area has crafts, activities and games to keep them busy.
This festival also hosts a symposium on Southeastern baskets. Learn about the art of basket weaving during a lecture on historic and contemporary practices and special demonstrations. The educational sessions also cover how to care for a basket. Scholars including the editor of Basketry of Southeastern Indians Marshall Gettys, and Choctaw and Muscogee Creek weavers will be in attendance.
