In 1892, the Dobson Family stopped their covered wagon in Miami and made it their hometown. From their homestead and passion for history and learning, they created the Dobson Museum that features more than 5,000 historical items from Ottawa County in several exhibits.

Operated by the Ottawa County Historical Society, the museum sits about a block off of Route 66, and a section of the building is dedicated to The Mother Road. Exhibit topics also include the nine Native American tribes headquartered in the region, famous residents and more. From American Indian artifacts to lead and zinc mining items, the Dobson Museum offers unique glimpses into early settlements and life in the area. This museum houses over 5,000 historical items including printed archives, newspapers, photographs and books. Explore the historic Dobson home, museum and formal gardens to learn more about the history and figures of Ottawa County.
