Watonga Fame Mural
120 W A St
Local Watonga resident Veva Daugherty and her late husband, Gerald, commissioned Palmer Studios to create a Watonga-themed mural on the wall of Veva’s law firm building. Palmer Studios came to town and took a look at old photos the Daughertys had pulled for inspiration. After handing over the photos, the Daughertys left the creativity to the professionals.
Now, the result of Palmer Studios's artistic license stands on the law firm wall, welcoming visitors with its depictions of oil and wheat, staples of Watonga commerce. This Watonga mural also includes a crucial football game between Watonga and Hennessey, representing Gerald’s ties to the high school football team as one of its coaches in the late 70s. Larry Roach, the Watonga player carrying the ball in the mural, later went on to play for the University of Oklahoma.
