The Jungle Book Festival
Look for the bare necessities in the Children’s Garden at Myriad Botanical Gardens. This Oklahoma City garden will transform into a jungle haven so kids can experience Rudyard Kipling’s story of how the man-cub, Mowgli, adapts to life in the jungle with the help of Baloo, Bagheera, Kaa, and those pesky monkeys. Enjoy crafts, activities and imaginative displays that capture India’s rich culture and will educate us all on the adventures in this heartwarming story.
Special festival-related events will rotate throughout the month. Fridays and Saturdays, audience members can participate in an interactive reading of the story by becoming the elephants, monkeys, and other jungle friends while reading through charming stories. Jammin' in the Jungle will feature a lesson on instruments created by plants that thrive in the jungle as well as a jam session on May 7. Kids can even catch a showing of this Disney movie after making crafts within the gardens on May 13. On-site vendors will also offer henna tattoos, savory spice shop demos, Indian dance performances, jungle yoga, coconut cracking, daily scavenger hunts and painting sessions throughout May.
