The Melvins in Concert
423 N Main St
Don’t miss a very special evening in Tulsa when genre-defining band The Melvins take over Cain’s Ballroom.
Hailing from Aberdeen, Washington, The Melvins were the first post-punk group to take 1970s metal seriously, distilling punk angst with the heavy, sludgy sound of bands like Black Sabbath. The sound they forged influenced other local bands, including fellow Aberdeen based Nirvana, who mixed in some pop sensibilities and kicked off a whole movement that came to be known as Grunge. Although they never received the notoriety of many bands they influenced, The Melvins have a fiercely loyal fan base and have remained critical darlings through the almost three decades since their formation in 1987.
Be sure to check out opening act Helms Alee, a Seattle based trio who has crafted their very own brand of sludge and shoegaze.
