Charley Crockett in Concert
Charley Crockett in Concert
Join Texas bluesman Charley Crockett for a very special evening when he takes over OKC's historic Tower.
This descendant of Davy Crockett hails from deep South Texas, where he cut his teeth bouncing between Texas and Louisiana raised by his blues singing single mother in Dallas and uncle who introduced him to the big brass sound of New Orleans French Quarter, where a young Charley would later earn a hard living busking on the street. In 2009, Crockett showed up in New York City, where he made a living captivating subway car audiences for several years before being discovered and offered a record deal as part of the street group "Trainrobbers." Deciding to take his chances in a rapidly changing music industry, Charley declined the offer and headed west to California instead. Drawing comparisons to artists from Bill Withers and Jerry Lee Lewis to Dr. John and Citizen Cope, this elusive, rebellious and self-taught street musician is a true original hailing back to earlier times.
Show up early, you're not going to want to miss Austin's own Greyhounds tearing down the house on opening duties.
