Gierek began his career in the art business in 1982 in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 1987, he pulled up stakes and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where in 1990 he served as president of the Santa Fe Gallery Association. In 1998, he relocated to Tulsa, where his eponymous gallery opened on Cherry Street. The gallery moved to its current location in 2013.
