Giacomo Puccini’s beloved "Madama Butterfly" comes to Tulsa during the Tulsa Opera's 2019-2020 season. This three-act opera follows an unscrupulous American naval officer's marriage to a young Japanese geisha for convenience, leading to a heartbreaking betrayal and the ultimate sacrifice of a mother’s love.
This performance will star soprano Maria Natale as the geisha Cio-Cio San, tenor Matthew White as the naval officer Pinkerton, and mezzo-soprano Renée Rapier as Cio-Cio San’s faithful attendant Suzuki, all making their company debuts. Baritone Aleksey Bogdanov will sing Sharpless, and conductor James Lowe returns to the Tulsa Opera for this special show.
