For a quiet, secluded outdoor experience, head to Spavinaw Lake to fish and birdwatch. Spavinaw Lake offers 1,584 surface acres and 25 miles of shoreline, perfect for reeling in largemouth bass, black bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. Birdwatchers can take advantage of prime eagle viewing opportunities in the winter months, too. Take advantage of onsite facilities like boat ramps and fishing docks before breaking out lunch at the picnic areas and grills. The kids can release energy on the playground or embark on a hike along the nature trail. Spavinaw Lake also offers restrooms and a group shelter, although no swimming or water skiing is allowed. Spavinaw does charge a small fee for boat and fish access, which can be purchased on site.
