This non-profit facility includes a free museum and research library building on a two-acre property. The Walkingstick Research Library consists of resource books, microfilm and computer access for the public. The library specializes in the history and genealogy research of northeast Oklahoma, northwest Arkansas and the Cherokee Nation. A bookstore and gift shop are also located on-site.

Other buildings on the property include a blacksmith shop, a post office building, a general store building and the Adair Building that holds large farm machinery. A recent addition to the property is a 1920s era one-room school building. Talbot's Historic School Restoration was an official project of the Oklahoma Centennial Commemoration and was funded in part through a grant made possible by the Oklahoma Legislature.
