Animal Collective in Concert
423 N Main St
Head to Tulsa for an evening of experimental and noise pop when Animal Collective takes over at Cain’s Ballroom.
In the late 1990s, the founding members of Animal Collective began banging drums and tweaking synths in their bedrooms, writing songs about their imaginary friends and childhood pet to the soundtrack of noisy, feedback heavy music that sounded weird, but was pop to the core. Along the way, Animal Collective’s musical wanderings have taken them from cramped basement shows and forest floor singalongs to Guggenheim installations and worldwide television appearances. For this tour, based on their latest record, “Painting With,” the band is working toward returning to those bedroom days of crafting early synth pop.
Be sure to catch opening act, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith as she explores unique soundscapes with her synthesizers and ethereal vocals.
