Stop 2: Cain's Ballroom

JJ Cale’s live performance at Cain’s Ballroom in 2004, one of his last live performances in Oklahoma before his death, was recorded for the 2006 documentary “To Tulsa and Back: On Tour with JJ Cale.” Cain’s honored the musician with a star bearing his name, located directly outside the popular venue.

Stop 3: Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame

Following his death in July of 2013, the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame inducted JJ Cale for his contributions to blues and jazz music.

The Church Studio is located in Tulsa's historic Pearl District.  Once owned by Leon Russell, the studio has recorded several greats including J.J. Cale and The GAP Band.

Stop 4: The Church Studio/Shelter Records

JJ Cale was a self-taught audio engineer and worked for the legendary Leon Russell at his Church Studio. Cale would go on to release several solo albums under Shelter Records during the 1970s.
